You might have heard of Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) and Gold Monetisation Scheme (GMS). But what is the difference between the two?   Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) Gold Monetisation Scheme (GMS) Meaning SGBs are issued by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on behalf of the Government of India. They are issued as Government of India Stock in accordance with Section 3 of Government Securities Act, 2006. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released directions on forward contracts in government securities. What is Bond Forward? Bond forward means a rupee interest rate derivative contract in which one counterparty (buyer) agrees to buy a specific government security from another counterparty (seller) on a specified future date and at a price determined at the time of the contract. Which transactions shall be covered under the directions? What is Ways and Means Advances (WMA)?

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently announced the Ways and Means Advances (WMA) limit for the Government of India. So, what is WMA? What is Ways and Means Advances (WMA)? Ways and Means Advances (WMA) is a collateral free clean advance availed by the Central and State Governments from RBI, to tide over temporary mismatches in the receipts and payments. Section 17(5) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 empowers RBI to grant WMA to Central and State Governments, as and when required by them. What is Special WMA / Special Drawing Facility (SDF)?
